It's only been two months since the debut of Hyundai i40 wagon at the Geneva Motor Show, and has been at an auto show in Barcelona shows sedan Hyundai i40, with which the Koreans are linked far-reaching plans.
Koreans themselves acknowledge that a great success in Europe will enjoy the wagon than a sedan. On the side of the Europeans – the traditional propensity to "their" brands of European buyers, "untwisted" names, while the Hyundai i40 yet nobody is completely unknown, and is considered the true outsider. Even though the car was produced in a European design center in the German Hyundai Ryusselhayme.
What will oppose Hyundai i40 competitors? First, an interesting appearance. In recent years, Hyundai and Kia cars have come a long way from the typical Asian inexpressive "remnants" to stylish and even beautiful cars. So for that, and for the design of the Koreans do not have long to blush. Secondly, under the hood of Hyundai will house the most modern engines – two petrol (1.6 liter, 135 hp, 164 Nm 2.0 liter, 177 hp, 213 lb) and 1,7-liter diesel 115 hp (260 Nm) and 136 hp (325 Nm). On the assurances of Koreans, 115-strong diesel modification will spend all 4.3 liters of fuel per hundred kilometers into the air and throw no more than 113 g / km of CO2. In addition, the car will receive "green" modification of the Blue-Drive, including the system start / stop, tires with low rolling resistance and regenerative braking energy. Good environmental performance and efficiency and boasts a gasoline version of the Hyundai i40 with a two-liter 177-horsepower engine. The machine will consume 6.8 gallons of gasoline, and harmful emissions will not exceed 159 g / km.
And, thirdly, the Koreans have a special emphasis on the convenience of passengers and the driver and the promise that the Hyundai i40 will be the most comfortable cabin in the D class. Adoption is very brave, especially given the fact that so far nobody has managed to create a more comfortable and ergonomically adjusted interior than the leader of the D class – Volkswagen Passat. But Koreans seem to know what they say. Whatever it was, but the Hyundai i40 is really able to offer its passengers a lot of amenities. Already in the basic modification of the car will receive nine airbags, Bluetooth, seat and steering wheel heater, and can be ordered optional ventilated seats, rearview camera, advanced multimedia system, navigation system and parking assistance. The only drawback can be regarded as a relatively small trunk capacity of 503 liters, but that is the inevitable price to pay for a trendy kupeobrazny body. However, there are pluses more weight than the trunk. And this, of course, price. Hyundai cars have long been difficult to be attributed to "accessible", except maybe the "budget-» Hyundai Solaris. That Hyundai i40 hardly delight too democratic price tag. Nevertheless, the machine will still be cheaper competitors. Though not much, just a few percent, but cheaper. And there is no doubt that rational, able to count every euro cent, the residents of the Old World when buying a sedan class D probably will not leave Hyundai i40 unheeded. Price tag has not yet made public, but to come soon – the European price lists will appear on 1 June.
But the supply of Hyundai i40 in Russia is open to question. In the Russian market is possible "internal" competition between models i40 and Sonata, so Koreans have yet weighed the pros and cons.
